Between?

I have a question about 'between'. Definition 5b of this dictionary reads: ----5b) because of the combined effect of: "between work and studies she has no time left" So, for a sentence pattern "Between X, Y". 'Y' must necessarily the be result of 'X' But a search on google returned two types of sentences: 1 "Between work and school, he had no time to relax." 2 "Between work and school, he still found time to relax." Sentence 1 matches the suggested sentence pattern invovlving the 'result of' sense of 'between'. But sentence 2 doesn't. Sentence 2 seems to require a 'in spite of' meaning. Could sentence 2 be poorly written?

For the sentense "We will be closed" can somebody explain what kind of tense it is in. If I'm referring to something in the future to say that the store is be closed tomorrow, why does the word "close" need to be in the past tense? I kind of understand the logic behind it, but I need some clarification from you grammar experts out there.
