Everyone will tell you the Amerian standard of living is still higher than (that/those) of most of the other countries in the world. At first I thought, 'those' is the correct answer because 'those' refers to the standard's' of living of other countr'ies'. And then, I found out that demonstrarive pronoun agrees with antecedent noun, 'the American standard' which is singular. Therefore, ['that' of most of the other countries] would appear grammatically correct. Which one is correct? Or can I use both?
