I have a question for Clive?

'If I won $10 million dollars, I would like to buy Clive a new car.' Hello, Clive. This is the sentence you used as an example in 2007 and I was wondering if 'would like to' here does not mean 'want' , right? Then how do I understand the phrase? It still has the meaning of 'like' , not 'want' ? Thank you so much as usual and have a good day.
